If you’d like to read more about Cotswolds history – especially the dark, criminal side of it – I have, to date, written three books about it.

Old Cotswold Punishments, published by The History Press, is available from Amazon here. In this book, you can find out more about the region’s poachers, conmen, prostitutes, bigamists, highwaymen and murderers – and how they were punished by the law.

Foul Deeds and Suspicious Deaths in the Cotswolds, published by Pen & Sword Books, is for sale on Amazon here. The book draws on contemporary sources, newspapers and prison records to tell tales of violent crimes in the area – including a woman burned at the stake, the emigre killed for the sake of a watch, and some female rivalry over a man that erupted into extreme violence.

Tales From Cotswold History originates with this blog, and comprises some of the stories I wrote when the blog began, focusing on individuals from the Cotswolds’ past, and how they lived. You can buy it from Amazon here.
